Cavapoo

cavoodle, dog, pet-4697140.jpg

Cavapoos are mixed breed dogs crossed between Poodles and Cavalier King Charles Spaniels. This pup inherited some of its parents’ best qualities, including playfulness, curiosity, and outgoingness. Cavadoodles and Cavoodles are some of the names given to Cavapoos.

Due to their outgoing nature and love of attention, these adorable pups make great family pets. They thrive in “pack” environments. It may be the Cavapoo that is right for you if you’re looking for a loyal, playful dog that enjoys romping around with you and snuggling on the couch.

History

Although naturally occurring, Cavapoos were intentionally created in the late 1990s by Australian breeders mixing Cavalier King Charles Spaniels and Poodles.

It was bred with the outgoing, calmer nature of the Cavalier King Charles Spaniel and the intelligence of the Poodle to produce a hybrid. The Poodle breed was also selected for its tendency not to shed much, making it a suitable choice for allergy sufferers. Cavapoos were created as demand for mixed-breed puppies grew.

Traits

A Cavapoo’s amiable and winning personality has made them extremely popular. These dogs’ outgoing, playful, and affectionate nature makes them popular family dogs. However, Cavapoos are not very adept at coping with being alone, and if they are not adequately trained and socialized, they could experience separation anxiety.

The Cavapoo coat comes in various colours: cream, fawn, chocolate, gold, chestnut, and white. In some cases, they can have solid colours, but most commonly, they are chestnut and white.

Cavapoos usually have short, soft, and wavy or curly coats. They require weekly brushing, although they tend to be less prone to shedding, which is why some allergy sufferers do well with them.

Cavapoos are generally friendly with children and enjoy romping around with them. However, they are small and can be injured by aggressive children. Whenever children are playing with dogs, they should be supervised and instructed on how to play safely.

Known for their intelligence, Cavapoos thrive on validation and praise from their owners. Due to their eagerness to please, Cavapoos are relatively easy to train. Agility and obedience competitions are great for Cavapoos because they can also be athletic.

You must train your Cavapoo early to learn to be on their own since they can be somewhat attached at the hip. Left unattended, your Cavapoo might chew furniture and shoes and root through the garbage if they are not adequately trained.

Intruders may even be greeted with a wag of the tail by Cavapoos. Therefore, a Cavapoo is not a wise choice if you are looking for a guard dog. Cavapoos usually thrive in homes with lots of attention, whether with a family or a senior citizen.
